Before the pandemic, when I shared meals with others, I had lunch with a client. She let slip that she was unhappy with her job.
Casually, I told her that jobs are like shoes. When they don’t fit right, they can really hurt so maybe it was time to get new shoes.
A few weeks later, she called me with a brightness in her voice.
She had gotten a new job and was over the moon. And then she told me that it was what I had said that pushed her to find new employment.
Words really do matter. They can lift us up or tear us down.
